Join Hazzan and Musician Yair Harel in an evening of music, learning, and communal singing that focuses on their work in the revival of piyut (liturgical Hebrew poetry and song) and building of the unique community, Zion, in Jerusalem.

Chazzan and Musical Director Yair Harel is at the center of the realm of prayer and piyyut at Kehilat Zion. A native of Jerusalem, Yair is a world-renowned Israeli performer and artistic director active in the revival and contemporary interpretation of the ancient art of Piyut (liturgical Hebrew poetry) in Israel and abroad, that has revolutionized the face of Israeli culture in the last decade. He is the founder and editor in chief of the website "Invitation to Piyut," (2005) and the artistic director of the Piyut Festival and of the Ben Zvi Piyut Ensemble (2008). Together with Rabbi Roly Matalon Yair founded Piyut North America (2011). Yair was an artist-in- residence at UC Berkeley (2014) and has also taught at the Hebrew University, the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies and The Center for Eastern Classical Music in Jerusalem.
