The Abayudaya Scholarship Fund "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. " Nelson Mandela Help Jewish, Christian and Muslim children attend school The Abayudaya Jews of Uganda live side-by-side with their Christian and Muslim neighbors. The Abayudaya community operates two Jewish schools - Hadassah Elementary School and Semei Kakungulu High School - staffed and attended by Jews, Christians, and Muslims. In order for education to be accessible to all the children in the region, scholarships are needed for tuition, and also room and board. Some children come from remote areas and need to live at school during the week in order to attend school. Additionally, many of the children are orphans who have lost one or both parents to AIDS, malaria, or other hardship. The fund also provides daily needs such as food, board, and medical care, as well as books, test fees, uniforms, and transportation. Improved healthcare, education, and community development provided by the Abayudaya Jews of Uganda to their Christian and Muslim neighbors fosters good will and cooperation among the communities. |
